I am Manvitha Ganji, one of the youth directors of Phoenix Jewel of the East Lions Club (PJOELC). You must have had a glimpse of our club's various activities and recurring community services through our previous articles and monthly newsletters found in this website website. Wanted to share recent updates and developments in the club:
Aetna company sponsored 800 boxes of hand sanitizers through the organization, Phoenix Lions Without Borders, to our Club. PJOELC will donate these to Title 1 schools as well as various organizations through our signature projects.
As part of Covid relief funding activities, PJOELC Leos raised $710 for by conducting below Online Classes during the summer break of 2021
1) Art & Crafts by Ananya Gandikota
2) Cooking classes by Titiksha Kothakapu
3) Painting classes by I, Manvitha Ganji
4) Computer Coding classes by Rohan Agarwal
5) Anime Sketching by Aneesh Dabberu
6) Landscape Sketching by Chaitanya Kashyap, and many other Leos
volunteered as helpers in organizing these classes
Out of the money raised through these classes, PJOELC recently donated INR 42,000 (appr $565) to Kala Sanskriti music band comprising a group of blind artists from Bengaluru, India, whose livelihood has taken a hit due to COVID. Nothing can replace the immense joy and satisfaction that consumes us when you know you are a part of a noble deed!
Few of our Lions and Leos attended the District 21N Kick- Off Conference for 2021-2022 on Saturday, August 28th, 2021. Highlights of the meeting were: President Lion Kamala, officially, took an oath for Zone Chair of District 21N!!! This means that she will be a guiding Lion for a total of 5 Lions clubs and 5 Leos clubs. Lion Smita was officially nominated as Peace Poster Coordinator!!
These two nominations, given that we are just a year old, can be deemed as milestones for sure!!! How a new and young organization such as ours could accomplish such commendable recognitions can be attributed to the members' highly contagious traits of compassion, hard work and responsibility. PJOELC thanks all of its amazing Lions, Leos and Cubs!! This is just a start, more opportunities will open up for our Lions and Leos at District 21N.
