Service Projects

Read about a few of our favorite service projects so far!

Andre House:

Andre House is an non-profit organization located in Phoenix dedicated to giving ministry to the homeless and poor populations of Arizona. Andre House was founded by two priests in 1984, and they have been helping less fortunate populations ever since! Andre House strives to be a ministry of hospitality, love, presence, community, faith, accountability, providence, simplicity, trust, respect, and non-violence. Phoenix Jewel of the East Lions Club donates to Andre House every month. We are so thankful to be able to partner with such a wonderful organization!

Welcome to America:

The Welcome to America Project is a nonprofit organization that creates an atmosphere of compassion by providing food, clothes, and furniture to refugees that have just arrived in America. The WTAP takes donations of old clothes or packed food and gives them to needy refugees. Phoenix Jewel of the East Lions Club donates to WTAP every month.

Donating Covid Testing Machines:

Mathrushree Manovikasa Kendra Orphanage is a non-profit, non-commercial, voluntary organization dedicated to the welfare of the differently abled children. 

Phoenix Jewel of the East Lions Club was able to donate 2 COVID testing machines to underprivileged areas in Bangalore, India. We also sponsored full day meals at a center for disabled Children at the Mathrushree Manovikasa Kendra, Bangalore, India. One entire month of nutritious meals was sponsored to 120 kids for the Deena Bhandu Orphanage. 

Deena Bhandu Ashram is also a non-profit organization that helps kids and does so with Gandhian values!

Hygiene Kits for Shoebox

Shoebox Ministry coordinates the collection and distribution of toiletry items for people in the Phoenix Metro area who are experiencing homelessness and others who need, but cannot afford hygiene items. On October 3rd 2021, PJOELC donated 300 hygiene kits to support this organization. PJOELC regularly contributes these kit in collaboration with the Shoebox Ministry.

Clothing Donations for Helping Hands

PJOE volunteers donated their Indian cultural attire to Arizona Helping Hands, a licensed nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children in the foster-care system. Congrats on a very successful turnout of donation items!

Park Cleanup in BengalurU, India

Our twin Lion clubs cleaned up Sadananda agar Park in Bengaluru, India. They distributed hygiene kits, and sponsored the lunches of thirty-five cleaning crew members. With their remaining funds, they sponsored COVID-testing machines and meals at an orphanage in Bengaluru.

LCI Christmas Cards  

Leo and Cubs wrote Christmas cards to be sent out during Christmas to Veterans, Law Enforcement Officers, underprivileged children in India, Senior Citizens, and to Leo's of other Lions Club to create a social bonding.

Ganavardhini School of Music

The Ganavardini School of Music, founded by Smt. Roopa Keshava Raman, collaborated with the PJOELC to put on 10 days of performances on YouTube in the celebration of Diwali. Leos put in lot of hard work by contributing in various activities for the Ganavardhini project. Some activities to call out include anchoring, singing, video merging, creating flyers and certificates. With the help of our Leos the event was extremely successful and helped the organization receive numerous positive reviews and lot of publicity which will eventually help in the growth of this organization and encourage young artists with blooming their talent.
